In the heart of India’s agricultural landscape, we witnessed something that shouldn’t exist in 2021: farmers making critical decisions about their land — decisions worth their entire livelihoods — based purely on guesswork. Fertilisers applied by habit. Soil health ignored for generations. Yields declining. Costs rising. And no one telling them why.
The root cause was invisible — the soil itself. And the tools to understand it? Locked away in government labs, weeks away, printed in language farmers couldn’t act on, arriving long after the planting window had closed.
That’s when Dhiraj Choudhary and Saumya Rawat founded Ekosight Technologies on 29 September 2021 in New Delhi — with one bold conviction: every Indian farmer deserves the same quality of soil intelligence that agricultural universities and large agribusinesses take for granted.
So they built the Soil Doctor — a portable, semi-automatic soil testing system that delivers lab-grade results at the edge of the field, in minutes, with crop-specific fertiliser recommendations attached. What began as a single device has grown into a nationwide movement.

Four Years of Growing with Indian Agriculture
2021 — The Beginning
A conviction becomes a company
Ekosight Technologies Pvt. Ltd. incorporated on 29 September 2021 in New Delhi. Two founders. One conviction: democratise soil intelligence for every Indian farmer. Mission set. The work begins.
2022 — Building the Science
From concept to working prototype
Deep R&D phase. Developed proprietary powdered reagent sachets for field-safe, portable soil analysis. Secured multiple grants and early-stage recognitions from national agritech bodies. First prototype Soil Doctor device developed, tested, and refined with real farmer feedback.
2023 — Taking It to the Field
First pilots. Real impact.
Launched first on-ground pilot in Punjab — validating the Soil Doctor Kit under real farm conditions. First Soil Doctor Clinics operationalised at village level. Collaborated with FPOs and agricultural institutions to measure impact on yield and input cost savings.
2024–25 — Recognition, Scale & Movement
A startup becomes a movement
Default 10+ national awards — BIRAC, TiE Women, Startup Mahakumbh, STPI, IIT Ropar. 4,000+ farmers served. 3,000+ acres mapped. 100+ active Soil Doctor Clinics. Soil Didi Program launched — rural women becoming soil intelligence leaders. Second office opened at IARI Pusa Campus, Delhi.
